FAMILY MEDIATION
A Better Path Forward

Hello. I’m Julie Charbonneau, founder of Guelph-Wellington Family Mediation.
Separation can be one of life’s most difficult transitions, and it’s not always easy to know where to turn. I created this practice to offer a calm, supportive space where people can work through important decisions with clarity and respect. My goal is to help families navigate separation in a way that reduces conflict, protects relationships, and prioritizes the well-being of children. Whether you are exploring your options or ready to begin the mediation process, I’m here to help guide you forward with care and professionalism.
Background
Julie Charbonneau is the founder of Guelph-Wellington Family Mediation and brings a unique blend of professional expertise and personal insight to her practice. As a former police officer with 15 years of service in Wellington County, Julie developed strong skills in conflict resolution, active listening, and clear communication while navigating emotionally charged situations. During her policing career, she also witnessed firsthand the lasting emotional and financial impact that litigation can have on families—especially on children. This experience solidified her belief in the value of mediation as a more peaceful and constructive path forward.
Julie holds a Certificate in Family Mediation from York University and is an accredited family mediator with the Ontario Association for Family Mediation (OAFM). Her training, combined with her professional background, allows her to create a safe, respectful, and balanced environment where both parties feel heard and supported throughout the process.
Beyond her credentials, Julie is a divorced mother of two, giving her a deep personal understanding of the emotional and practical challenges that come with separation and co-parenting. Her lived experience informs her compassionate and realistic approach.
Julie’s goal is to help clients reach fair, lasting agreements through collaboration rather than conflict. She takes a child-centered approach, helping parents focus on the needs and best interests of their children while navigating the complexities of separation with clarity and dignity.
